About Amit

I’ve spent three decades
understanding organisations.
I’m still curious about people.

I am Amit Nand Mohla. For nearly three decades, my work has sat at the intersection of people, organisations and leadership.

Today, that work takes several forms: HR leadership, executive coaching, teaching, speaking, podcasting and writing.

Different formats. One continuing conversation.

The long view

A career in the world of work

I have spent close to thirty years in the corporate world, most of it in Human Resources, working with leaders and organisations through growth, change, pressure and reinvention.

Along the way, I have been part of organisations such as Wipro, GE, American Express, HP, Dell and Aon. Different cultures. Different eras. Different business challenges.

Yet the underlying questions have often been the same.

  • How do people lead?
  • What makes them perform at their best?
  • What happens when ambition becomes pressure?
  • And what happens to the person behind the professional identity?

The places that shaped the journey

Across three decades, I’ve had the opportunity to work with people and leaders across different businesses, cultures and eras — each adding another perspective to how organisations and people work.

Career

30 years. Different organisations. A lot of learning.

My corporate career has given me the opportunity to work across people strategy, leadership, talent, transformation and organisational change, partnering with leaders in complex and constantly evolving environments.

Today

At Wipro, I work as an HR leader and partner to the Global CIO and CTO functions, supporting leaders and teams through people strategy, transformation, talent and workforce change.

Different organisations.
Different cultures.
Different eras.
A lot of learning about people.

The shift

From corporate practitioner to leadership practitioner

For many years, my world was the corporate world.

Then gradually, the boundaries between my interests began to disappear.

The conversations I was having with leaders at work led naturally to coaching.

My experience of organisations led naturally to teaching.

Questions about leadership and wellbeing found their way into my speaking.

Curiosity about happiness and the human experience became The HappySapiens Podcast.

And eventually, some of those questions became a book.

Different formats. One continuing conversation.

What I believe

A few things I’ve come to believe

01

Leadership is human before it is strategic.

The quality of an organisation's leadership is inseparable from the quality of its human conversations.

02

Achievement and fulfilment aren't always the same thing.

A successful career can answer many questions. It doesn't necessarily answer the question of what makes life meaningful.

03

Reflection is a leadership skill.

In a world that rewards speed, creating space to pause can be surprisingly powerful.

04

People don't need more advice all the time.

Sometimes they need better questions, a safe space to think and the freedom to arrive at their own answers.

And I’m still learning.

Thirty years into my career, I don’t think I have all the answers.

I’m more interested in asking better questions.

About leadership.

About work.

About happiness.

About identity.

And about the lives we are building while we are busy building our careers.

Perhaps that’s what connects everything I do.
